OUR PLAN FOR THE FIVE EPISODES
THE SLACKLIFE BC SERIES WILL BE MADE UP OF FIVE MICRO DOCUMENTARY PIECES. The theme of each piece will emerge as the events unfold.
Each episode will focus on a yet to be determined theme. This theme will be guided around a specific goal or person, and each episode will build upon the one that came previous. The theme is undecided ahead of time because in the nature of a documentary series we are going to let the events that unfold help guide the story.
As a whole, this series will explore the amazing dynamics of the thriving Slacklife BC community and seek to share the incredible diversity of the people behind it. We want to explore the humans behind this fringe sport. The people themselves. What makes them who they are and why are they driven to push forward towards this goal together.
The following are all temporary titles, seeking to give an explanation of the content we are gathering to make the five different short films. They are not in the order of when they will be released.
1.WORLDS LARGEST WATERFALL ROPE SWING AT HUNLEN FALLS
Spencer is the first person in the world to go off a waterfall in a raft while swinging into a massive rope swing.
We are going to rig another waterfall rope swing. This will most likely be the most exciting and pinnacle episode of the series. This will be the new largest waterfall rope swing in the world. This project will include flying up to the iconic Hunlen falls, and proceeding to rig several highlines and a massive rope swing that plummets over this massive waterfall.
2.The Power of PLay
This episode will be centered around a set of waterlines that will be rigged. It will have a fun summer vibe as a whole, and look at what it's like to get out with your friends and play in nature.
3. WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER
There is a highline gathering happening in Squamish this August. At this gathering people from all over North America will hike up the Squamish Chief and proceed to rig as many highlines as possible. This episode will show the incredible unity that this diverse group of athletes forms. By sharing a deep passion for adventure, people from many different walks of life come together and accomplish incredible tasks as a community.
4. PROGRESSIVE FEMALES IN THE SPORT
This episode will focus on an incredible athlete named Mia. She is one of the hardest working and most driven athletes in the community. She is loved by all and has an incredible story about why she loves the sport and what drives her to push her limits.
5. THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Slackliners from around the world will be coming to BC this summer and fall to participate in projects that the Slacklife BC crew will be rigging. We will also be traveling down south to Oregon and Moab for two different highline festivals. This episode will showcase the incredible diversity in the global landscape of highlining.
